SOP FOR OPERATION AND CALIBRATION OF WATER BATH

  1. OBJECTIVE:

    1. To lay down the procedure for Operation and Calibration of Water Bath.

  2. SCOPE

    1. This procedure is applicable for the Operation & Calibration of water bath at Quality Control Laboratory.

  3. RESPONSIBILITY:

    1. Quality Control Officer / Executive are responsible to follow procedure as per the procedure mentioned in this SOP.

    2. QC Head is responsible for implementation and compliance of the procedure as per this SOP.

  4. ABBREVIATIONS

    1. SOP    :    Standard Operating Procedure

    2. QC    :    Quality Control

  5. PROCEDURE

    1. Procedure For Operation:

      1. Ensure that the water bath is clean.

      2. Check the mains supply and close the lid properly.

      3. Check for the sufficient water level.

      4. Put on the mains check for the display of the temperature controller.

      5. Set the temperature by pressing the increment and decrement key.

      6. After achieving the set temperature place the sample in the water bath.

    2. Procedure For Calibration:

      1. Perform the calibration at room temperature.

      2. Operate the instrument as per the operation procedure.

      3. Set the temperature at 35ºC allow it to achieve the set temperature and verify the temperature of the water bath by using the calibrated thermometer.

      4. Like wise verify the temperature of the water bath at the set temperatures 50ºC and 95ºC and verify the temperature of the water bath by using calibrated thermometer.

      5. Record the observations as per Calibration Record of Water Bath (Annexure I).

      6. Acceptance criteria: ±2.0ºC of set temperature.

      7. Frequency: yearly.

      8. If the instrument is out of order; tag the instrument with label.
